How to Spot Roof Damage

If you think you might have hail damage, it never hurts to call in a professional.  However, here are a few tips in case you want to look yourself!

Visually Inspect Roof

If you stand on the ground and look up at your roof, can you see missing or damaged shingles?  Can you see any granule loss, split shingles, or curled shingles?  Do your gutters have dents?  If so, you may want to have a professional take a look.  If trees grow close to your roof, make sure you get them trimmed regularly as shingles can become damaged by low hanging tree branches.

Check for Interior Damage

If you have leaks dripping from your ceiling right after a rain, there’s a good chance you have a roof leak.  If you do have interior leaks, call a professional and have them inspect your roof and advise on repair or replacement.  A professional can always make a temporary repair to stop the leak before you can address the issue.

TIP – if it hasn’t rained lately and you have water dripping from your ceiling, it could be the air conditioner!
